Newton - Supercharged emailing App Reviews

5 Stars to 1 Star and now 3 Stars…..

So when this was Cloud Magic, I gave it a 5 Star review because it was the best Mail client that I have found. It is great in IOS, and just as good on MacOS…. Then the newton switch happened… That was a bit Jarring and not rolled out properly at all, so I, as many others, instantly gave it a 1 star review… Now that they have made it clear that you do not need to purchase to use the app, then I am back to enjoying it. The reason this does not receive a 5 star review right now: Constant updates… To the point where they are annoying. Also, I am still not a fan of the payment structure. Yes, I understand that you need money to pay for a great product… $50 is quite high, and there is not much different from the free version. Make the price comperable to the competitors ($10/$20 for a lifetime), and we will be happy to pay…

Absolutely awful

Intentionally stopped email sync and other functionality to force us to update to your latest awful revamp. Not only that, obviously someone in the company actively voted other negative review as not helpful. Shame on you CloudMagic!

Love it

Say what you will about the price, sure it could be cheaper. But I’d rather have a company that HAS a business plan than one that doesn’t. I love the apps. They are simple and clean. I was testing around 5 of the top e-mail apps and they are all good, but Newton ALWAYS was the first to send me the e-mails. I always got the e-mails first through Newton. I gave in. I love it. I love the app. If you have the money and want a company that is commited to making the app better, which I hope they do, than this is the one for you. Love it.

The best

It’s the best email program I’ve found. Best of breed search. I’d like to be able to have favorite folders in left pane, and folder suggestions when filing similar to boxer or clearcontext for outlook.

STOP UPDATING TO HIDE BAD REVIEWS

I bought cloudmagic about 1-2 months before it changed to Newton. I deliberated over the purchase for several weeks before deciding to invest the money in what I thought would be a program I would use for years to come. Now today I am forced into a subscription based yearly fee. I am dissappointed in this company for falsey leading in customers and then coercing them to switch to an absurdly high subscription based program. I would have never made the investment in this company if I knew what their plan was. Now I have 1 “free” year left with this company when I made the purchase to use cloudmagic indefinitely. Since this change, several “updates” have been released, for what appears to be the purpose of hiding all their bad reviews.

Run The Other Way

This app will advertise that it is free, but then charge you $19.99 or $49.99. It is no different from the free version they offered previously. I used their services for some time as it was offered for free. Then all of a sudden they announced the app will now cost money. Their customer service department was unappologetic, rude, and very short. It also appears they have conitnually done these so called “updates” in order to erase negative reviews such as these. Worst app experience I have ever had. Worst customer service experience I have ever had.

Good, priced like great

It’s a good app - clean and fast. I find I struggle to find emails, even using search. I am not clear if this is poor indexing or poor UI or both. The new Sender Profile feature for $50 - per year! - is nuts. If this is the future of this app I will look elsewhere. In the meantime, you can’t, for example, move a mesage from one account to another. Or create a new folder. Or use a third party calendar (especially odd given they are a third party email client). Or format your signatures without writing HTML. Or get notifactions for anything other than ALL mail or NO mail, unlike Apple Mail where I can be notified for just VIPs. Also, oddly, I can’t delete a mail from an OSX notification, but I can from one on the Apple Watch. Overall, seemed like a fine start for this app. But the expensive subscription pricing for minor features is ominous and and insulting.

Wow.

It’s gorgeous, easy to use and does everything I need. I swear the composition screen even helps me write better emails. I love it. Really nice work.

Good Start to Solving Email

All these startups try to bring email into the modern internet era. Truth is, it is old technology but it serves its purpose and there’s only so much lipstick you can put on it. CloudMagic integrates seamlessly with all my providers and provides me a clean interface. It is not versatile - they are prescribing how you should interact with an email client, but that’s fine in most cases. A multi-pane option would be great and also some calendar functionality would probably be implemented beautifully by them. I’d also like and pay for a menu bar widget so I don’t have to open the full app and could perform some quick replies. Overall the app is solid and I hope they come up with more compelling add-ons I want to pay for. I really want to support them so this thing doesn’t die but the subscription model only sits well for me when I know it’s not arbitrarily being used. Fetching some publicly available data could be done client-side and not charged annually. Keep up the good development but please work on add-ons that extend the core functionality I can feel good about paying you for.

Pretty sweet

Like the iOS app, this is the only Mac app Ive found that correctly threads messages. Other email apps (including Apple Mail) either dont display the one-line snippet of previous threads, or worse, fail to thread all messages. Like the iOS app, I wish there was an indicator with the number of messages in a thread. Aside from that one wish, this is a pretty sweet app. Clean, fast and has the unified inbox.

Best Email App on the App Store

If Apple doesnt blatantly steal the design of this app for the new macOS release later this fall then Apple wouldve failed at designing software. This is a truly clever, simple and thoughtful app that makes emailing enjoyable. A lot like youre reading a short story, which makes the content of an email even more special if its a genuine letter from a loved one. Download and use this app. You wont regret it. In fact: youll recommend that other people use it as well.

Good but need improve.

As simple as good. However need improve about personalize (like a shortcut key mapping) and categorize.

Good looking focused app, with the biggest advantage of low power consumption

I have litterally tried all the apps that connect to exchange properly on the app-store and else. No other app does what this app does, use the lowest power consumption of all. You might think this is not a problem, but on a international flight having outlook decapitate my battery from 8 hours to 6 hours is a big deal, while this does actually give me close to the maximum capacity of my Macbook 12”. Otherwise the app is focused, minimalist and “pretty”. There are a couple of quirks I still have to get used to related to the thread management, display and other stuff. So it is not my full-time mail applications, but for power savings it is hands down the app to use.

Great!

I do love this app! it’s really useful!

Beautifully functional

I’ve had trouble for years getting my work email to work on my Mac Mail, and recently they stopped communicating at all. I’d seen a glowing review of CloudMagic on The Verge and decided it was time to try it out. I use four emails from different providers on a regular basis and email clients all day; this app is exactly what I needed. The clean interface makes it easy to find what you are looking for, with no clutter. And it is so fast! After an hour of using it on my laptop I’d already adjusted to it completely; it’s very intuitive. I’ve since downloaded the phone app as well and moved exclusively to CloudMagic; they sync beautifully. It gives me everything I need without slowing me down with unwanted extras. I have to praise the customer service team as well. I was impatient and sent a question before taking a thorough look around (obnoxious, I know!) and got an immediate response, and a followup later to make sure I had acclimated. They get an A+ in responsiveness.

Love this app

Clean and simple interface…..love the shortcuts...

OSX and IOS both work

The thing I like most is that when using the Cloudmagic OSX and IOS together they work. When I use Airmail platforms there are notification issues. None exist with cloudmagic. It’s not perfect…. only loading 14 days in your inbox could be improved but it’s easy to get around with a good search function. It would also be nice to have a spam icon and see the folder when looking at lists. The simple uncluttered windows are refreshing. Overall I like the products and plan on continuing to use them now until I see something else worth looking at. I’m guessing the product will only get better. You should give both platforms a good look.

Why did I wait so long?

Clean and crisp. Elligant and easy to use. DOESN’T CRASH! Imagine that. After months of putting up with Apple mail app pinwheeling and crashing, I finally figured out Apple isn’t fix this problem. After looking through support, and user posts on BS work arounds and tricks that never work, and even reinstalling El Capitan, Apple isn’t going to play nice with Gmail EVER. CloudMagic works like you expect Apple apps to work and years ahead of Apples dismall afterthought of a mail app. Now, to dump the equally horrible Apple Music.

Best email app ever devised

This app is outstanding! It’s so simple and user-friendly. Beyond that, the customer service is truly fantastic. Of course there is a bitlearning curve, but they are so responsive and helpful you’ll learn to master it within the first day. I am using 4 email accounts through CloudMagic, and I can’t believe how easy it is. I’m not one to review apps, but they deserve it. I would easily pay 4 times for this.

Beautiful and clean. But don’t have a snooze

Beautiful and clean. But don’t have a snooze option. We are in 2016… please add it. The inbox update is slower compared to other mail apps. I’m trying to find a mailbox alternative app, but it is very hard.
